You've decided you're going to go for it.  You're having a yard sale. Now, how can you make the most money with it?

Yard sales can be a ridiculous amount of work

Yard sales can definitely be worth it, but if you're hoping to make money, you need to put in the work. You'll want to advertise it somehow. That could mean putting it on Facebook, taking out an ad in a paper, putting up signs, or any other method you choose to get the word out. If no one shows up, then all of the other work is pointless.

You'll need to gather up whatever it is that you want to sell. Sometimes that means you've got to part with things that you love. If you're not using them, why are you keeping them? Why not sell them and make some money?

Then of course, you have to price it.  How much is it worth?  An even better question is, how much (or little) are you willing to let it go for?  Price it so that people will buy it.  If you're not willing to let it go for a reasonable price, don't put it in the sale.

Pick a date then say a prayer.  Hope that the weather holds out.

There is a way to avoid most of the work for a yard sale

You will still have to gather all of your things and price them accordingly, but if you don't want to worry about whether people will show up, think about becoming a vendor at the World's Largest Yard Sale.  It's coming up May 9th and 10th at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.  We bring in thousands of shoppers every time we do it and because it's inside, you don't even have to worry about the weather.  You get to keep all the money you make.
