
Is This The Origin Of Homer Simpson?
In the "weird coincidences" file, we've got this cartoon, which was first published in 1949 in a magazine in Iceland. Yeah, they look fairly similar... but wait until you see the whole cartoon.

If you were wondering, the caption translates out to "The ax is too sharp."
For contrast, here's Homer in a similar position:

There are, of course, minor differences. This character has three hairs and Homer has two. The noses are different. And while Homer does have a fondness for cigars, he rarely smokes onscreen.
Still, it's a strange coincidence, and fun to imagine.
