The National Weather Service is forecasting up to 3 feet of snowfall in Erie County, along with high wind gusts as massive as 65 mph. They’ve called for a winter storm warning that will stay in effect in some areas until Monday morning at 7am.

The weather has led to the highly anticipated Buffalo Bills playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers to be pushed to this Monday at 4:30pm, but the Buffalo Sabres kept their Saturday afternoon game against the Vancouver Canucks at KeyBank Center on as scheduled.

But what about Monday’s matchup against the San Jose Sharks?

Will The Buffalo Sabres Play On Monday?

There’s heavy speculation that Monday’s Buffalo Sabres game against the San Jose Sharks could also be pushed to a later date.

There’s two reasons that originally led us to believe it wouldn't happen:

  • With the Bills game being postponed to Monday as well, the Sabres may move their game to another day in order to keep attendance up and not overlap their fan bases.
  • The inclement Western New York weather could prevent San Jose from flying out to Buffalo until Monday morning at the earliest, making it impossible to even get to KeyBank Center by the time the puck is scheduled to drop at 1pm.

Buffalo Sabres Move Monday’s Game Time

As of right now, the Sabres have only moved the time of the puck drop up by an hour, and faceoff will now take place at noon on Monday.

We’re still extremely curious to see if San Jose can make it to Buffalo in time because of the winter storm, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
