We have now entered the first full week of January and it also happens to be the first work Monday of 2024 for most people.

The weather at the end of 2023 was as tame as you can be for December. There was hardly any snow to speak of, along with warmer than average temperatures. It was quickly dashed for cold and snow, and that trend will unfortunately continue for the next week.

There are two more storm systems slated for this week in New York State.

The first will arrive Tuesday and last until Wednesday, while the other arrives Friday through Sunday.

For Tuesday and Wednesday, get ready for rain, snow and a whole lot of wind. There are high wind warnings all over New York State, with sustained winds anywhere from 20-35 mph and gusts anywhere from 40-65 mph, depending on where you are. The gusts could even reach north of 70 mph, which are dangerous wind gusts,

For those just off Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, gusts could reach well north of 60 mph. That means people will likely lose power.

The worst of this wind storm will be Tuesday evening and into the overnight. It's best people bring in anything they might have lying out in the front yard, because it will get blown away; this is especially true of trash cans and empty trash bins.

Rain and snow are forecasted, according to The Weather Channel and while snow accumulations shouldn't be bad, there could be a soaking rain that makes the wind that much more miserable.

Then there's snow and more wind to deal with this weekend, which will be for Western and Central New York.
