Western New York is a region which prides itself on local restaurants. It's truly one of the things that sets Buffalo apart; the City of Good Neighbors and the great food that warms us up.

Over the past decade, however, national food chains have made their way into Western New York. Chick-fil-A now has three locations in the Buffalo market and Popeye's has multiple locations now in Buffalo.

Jersey Mike's has been coming on strong over the last several years in Western New York, as they make a run at places like Subway for customers. They are about to heat up the sub race in Buffalo.

Buffalo Business First is reporting that Jersey Mike's is planning not one, but four new locations in Western New York.

They're planning on one in Cheektowaga, which will be at the corner of Union and Walden. They are also planning three other locations, which will all be spread out across Western New York.

  • Hamburg
  • Lockport
  • Niagara Falls, NY

Jersey Mike's already has locations in Amherst, Williamsville, Buffalo and Orchard Park.

They specialize in subs and wraps, with an emphasis on fresh bread and a more classic sub feel (oregano, olive oil, red wine vinegar, etc.). For some, it's better than Subway, with Jimmy John's and Firehouse Subs also in the game for national sub chains.

With Chick-fil-A expanding as well, one thinks that perhaps places like Bojangle's, Raising Cane's and Culver's might soon bring a location or several to Buffalo...

We will have to wait and see what the fast food landscape in Buffalo looks like 5-10 years from now.
