The 2025 NFL season for the Buffalo Bills kicked off on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Orchard Park when the hometown team hosted the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of the 2024/25 NFL Divisional Playoff game when the Bills sent the Ravens home for the year.

Even though the Bills and Ravens have only faced each other 14 times since 1999, the two teams have really started to develop a rivalry that will keep fans entertained for years to come. One of the key aspects of that rivalry is the competition between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, both of whom were drafted in the same year and both of whom are big impact players in the league.

Sometimes it's hard to quantify how big an impact a player can have on a team, but that has not been the case for Josh Allen. Not only has Josh Allen proven to be one of the best players in the NFL, but he's also steadily been making his mark on Buffalo Bills' and NFL records, and after his Week One game against Baltimore, he's the sole owner of one Buffalo record that a few years ago seemed unbreakable.

Josh Allen Breaks Thurman Thomas Rushing Touchdown Record

Early in the fourth quarter of the Week One matchup against the Ravens, Josh Allen took a two-yard pass into the end zone to score a touchdown. That run, which helped the Bills narrow the gap against Baltimore, also gave JA17 sole possession of the Bills' rushing touchdown title.

The record, which was held by Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas with 65 rushing touchdowns, now belongs to Allen.

With 66 rushing touchdowns, Josh Allen is cruising his way to the NFL Hall of Fame.
