Open Letter To Western New York Schools
School is officially back in session in Western New York, and while many kids are buzzing with excitement, there is one thing that most kids are not looking forward to.
The good news is that you can change that for future years.
If you are reading this and you have kids of your own, you probably helped your kids pick out a “first day of school” outfit. Odds are, your kids fought you on what they were going to wear, right?
It can be difficult to get your kids to actually want to dress up for school or anything. They may want to wear their Spiderman costume, after all – and while there’s nothing wrong with Spiderman, it doesn’t look the sharpest when it comes to style.
Growing up, I remember my parents making a big deal about dressing up for the first day of school, but it was equally important to wear something just as stylish for School Picture Day.
Here’s an idea, though….
If it’s a struggle to get kids to dress up nice on the first day of school, and even more of a struggle for School Picture Day, why don’t we just combine the two?
Think about it: if the first day of school is School Picture Day, then you probably will never have to do a Picture Redo Day. Your kid would also already be wearing their best outfit, and you would only have to have the debate once per year!
Obviously, most schools have already got started for the 2024-2025 school year, but maybe next year we can move School Picture Day up so it lands on the first day back?
And not to sweeten the deal for students, but that does mean less in-person class time that day, which would be a good way to ease into the school year after taking a summer off.
