Even though the calendar doesn't yet say it's officially winter, winter is coming here, and all of the great things that come with the colder weather are here, too.

We have family gatherings, ski slopes, Buffalo Sabres Hockey, cuffing season, and countless other things that make winter amazing in the 716.

This is a question I've actually wondered for a while. It just seems like one day, everyone had an ugly sweater for Christmas. But why?

CNN spent time seeking out the answer to this very question, and let's just say I'm pretty surprised. In their article, CNN breaks down the entire ugly sweater timeline from the 1950s to the early 2010s when it really became a phenomenon.

There is even a National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, which is celebrated on the third Friday of December.
