You’re Invited To Community Meeting To Help Solve Community Violence

As the calendar switched from June to July and the temperatures continue to increase in the Empire State, people all over Western New York were getting ready to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America during the 4th of July weekend. While the weekend was mostly filled with family friendly fun and all sorts of displays of patriotism, the holiday weekend also filled with several incidents of violence that hit communities in Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and Rochester.

In Buffalo, there were several events that rocked parts of the city. From a block party on East Delavan Ave that got out of hand and spurred several shootings to a fight in South Buffalo that got crazy and resulted in allegations that a Buffalo Police officers' house was targeted by vandals.

In the end, more than 10 folks were shot and several neighborhoods were left to pick up the pieces.

Community Groups Are Teaming Up To Find A Solution To Gun Violence

While there has been a whole lot of people all over the internets who have been talking about what has happened and get social media clout, there are people in Buffalo who want to do more than talk; they want to find holistic solutions to the root causes of the weekends violencce.

Buffalo Masten District Council Person Zeneta Everhart, the Buffalo Office of Gun Violence Prevention, Intersect Buffalo, and other community groups are hosting a meeting on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Mount Olive Baptist Church on East Delavan Ave at 5:30 pm to strategize solutions and get to work on definitive actions to make Buffalo better.

All who care, including youth, parents, caregivers, community organizations, faith leaders, and more are asked to come and help put in the work.

As a society we have a choice, you can just talk and continue being keyboard warriors, or you can help with the solution. The choice is yours.
