Friday Night Live Brings Fun and Funk To Jefferson Every Week

Summertime in Buffalo is a special time that is often filled with all sorts of great events, concerts, shows, and other activities to help keep you busy. From festivals and cookouts to county fairs and block parties, there is a whole lot of things for people to do when the warm weather arrives and not a whole lot of time to do it in.

One of the things that people can do that has been steadily growing on Buffalo's east side is a weekly block party that helps to keep Western New York's connection with funk music alive and well. Friday Night Live, which is produced by the Buffalo Funk Festival, is a block party that features food trucks, vendors, and a few DJs that gather together on Jefferson Ave for a few hundred people to party the night away listening to the sounds that helped put cities like Buffalo on the musical map.

The party, which historically has taken place on Jefferson near the corner of Utica, has temporarily moved to Jefferson between Genesee and Cherry Street due to construction further north on Jefferson Ave, and happens every Friday during the summer.

The goal of the event, in addition to giving people another fun outlet to enjoy themselves during a Western New York summer, is to make sure that needed attention and resources are available in a part of the city that has been long neglected by the powers that be and the larger Western New York community.

This is just one of many good things that happen on Buffalo's east side and is due to run well into September 2026 if people want to come funk around and find out.
