This week, you can add a new fur-baby to your family while saving money and helping other animals in need in the City of Buffalo. The City of Buffalo Animal Shelter is holding a special adoption event this week.

City Of Buffalo Animal Shelter Adoption Event

The City of Buffalo Animal Shelter's "Fall In Love" adoption event is happening today, tomorrow, and Saturday. There will be reduced adoption fees for dogs and cats at the shelter.

According to a press release, the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter is facing overcrowding issues, so when you adopt this weekend, you not only help save a dog or cat that you take home, but also open another spot for an animal in need.

The event is being sponsored in part by Buffalo Barkery, a local pet bakery and boutique on Allen Street. On top of the reduced adoption fee, every pet that is adopted during the event will get a goodie bag to help ease the transition from the shelter to their new home.

Each pet that gets adopted will receive age-appropriate vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, a free first veterinary visit, a starter bag of food, lifetime microchip registration, a $100 training voucher for dogs, and FIV/FeLV testing for cats.

What You Need To Adopt A Pet At Buffalo Animal Shelter

If you plan on adopting during the event, you will need to make sure you fill out an application. You can download it HERE.

If you own other pets, you will have to set up a meet-and-greet with them and the pet you are looking to adopt at the shelter before you can bring the animal home. You are also encouraged to bring any people who will be living in the home to meet the pet at the shelter.

If you rent, you will need a letter showing that you are allowed to have a pet at your place.

The shelter will be open from 9 am until 3 pm Thursday and Friday, and then from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm on Saturday for the event.
