The price of everything is on the rise and now it looks like the next time you head to the mailbox it will cost you a little bit more.

Coming up on Sunday, July 9th, the United States Postal Service announced that they were going to raise the price of first-class stamps to 63 cents per stamp.

The increase is the fifth one the United State Postal Service has issued since 2019. Back in 2019, Forever Stamps cost 50 cents.

The main reason the USPS is increasing the price of stamps and other postal services is that the current Postmaster has a plan to make the postal service profitable over the next 10 years.

Over a billion dollars was added to the Post Office's operational costs due to inflation since 2020.

The post office just raised the price of Forever stamps back in July of 2022. They raised the cost of the stamp by 2 cents going from 58 cents to 60 cents.

They are also looking at increasing the rates of other services that they offer like Certified Mail, Post Office Box rental fees, money order fees, and the cost to purchase insurance when mailing an item. The United States Post Office didn't announce that that increase would be just yet.

Now that we know the increase is coming on Friday, now would be a good time to stock up on Forever Stamps and any other postage that you might need.
