Thousands of Western New Yorkers held their breath as news of a fire at a popular business was being reported on social media on Monday afternoon, just two days ahead of their grand opening for the season. Firefighters were called out to Mayer Bros in West Seneca.

Social media erupted on Monday with reports of a fire at the very popular Mayer Bros cider mill in West Seneca. This happened just two days ahead of their anticipated grand opening for the 2026 season.
I know that many people make it a yearly tradition to head ot the opening day of Mayer Bros to get some donuts and cider, but the good news is that the grand opening date wasn't impacted by an overheating machine.
Officials with Mayer Bros said that a machine in the production area overheated and there was no fire in the bakery, and opening day is still set for Wednesday, August 5th.

Mayer Brothers is one of the oldest stores in Western New York. It has been family-owned and operated since 1852. They are the largest processor of cider in America.
