New York Drivers Will Have Fewer Options When Filling Up
Drivers who make the trip over the US/Canadian border from New York could see fewer options when filling up on their trip.
Shell announced they plan on closing down 1000 gas stations around the globe and that could include several in New York and right over the Canadian border.

The company plans on closing down 500 stations by the end of this year and another 500 by the end of 2025.

Most Shell stations located in New York are downstate but many stations located in Canada are along the US/Canadian border. This could mean that you could have fewer options when you make the road trip over the border.
The company is hoping to reduce it emissions to net zero by 2050 and with more electric vehicles on the market, shutting down gas stations will help them towards their goal.

Overall Shell operates around 40,000 gas stations around the world and another 10,000 through different partnerships with smaller companies.

According to the website Scrapehero.com Shell is the 4th largest gas station owner in New York State, coming in behind Citgo, BP, and Exxon Mobile.
Shell owns over 1100 gas stations across Canada with more than 400 of them being in the the Province of Ontario. There are 8 stations right over the border in Niagara Falls, Canada, and three more near the Peach Bridge crossing.
Shell has not officially named which stations they will be shutting down at this time.
