Winter Storm Watch Issued For Western New York
The biggest party night and the biggest travel day of the year will be impacted by snow here in Western New York. Lake effect snow is possible for parts of Western New York later this week, and that has prompted the National Weather Service in Buffalo to issue a Winter Storm Watch for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties.
Over 7 inches of Lake Effect snow is expected in those areas, with whiteout conditions expected due to wind speeds of 45 miles per hour during the winter storm watch.
This will be the first major storm of winter here in Western New York. The cold and snow is also expected to extend into the weekend as well. Temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s on Friday and Saturday.
Things do get slightly better on Sunday with a mix of rain and snow expected with a high near 45.
