Tops Friendly Markets is a grocery store chain that is well-known throughout New York State and the Northeast and it looks like we might have the smallest version of it here in Western New York.

It is an American grocery store that operates in New York, Vermont, and Pennsylvania. It used to have stores in Ohio and Massachusetts. It is currently owned and operated by Northeast Grocery.

Tops was started in Niagara Falls, New York as the "Great Bear" market before the owner of that market teamed up with another local grocery store owner to form Tops in 1962

The name Tops came from an early meeting with partners. The name "Tops" was chosen because the owners wanted to give customers the best or "top" shopping experience,

WHERE IS THE SMALLEST TOPS LOCATED?

Based on my trips around New York and stops at various Tops stores, I believe the smallest store is located on Boston State Road, in Boston, New York.

Driving by this location, you notice that the building is small and it also is home to the restaurant Boco Kitchen

Some people say that the Tops in Fewsburg New York is smaller but I haven't been inside that one so I don't know. If you have been there and think it is smaller, please let me know.
