The greatest rock band in the world, the Beatles, broke up on this day in 1970. I don't care that 'Who is Paul McCartney' was a trending topic on twitter, those kids are idiots. Keep listening to your Kanye West and Pitbull songs and see where they rank in 40 years. There was no better band than the Beatles. They set the plate for everybody that followed (except for maybe Kanye). They had the looks, charisma and man, did they write hits. Without the Beatles were would music have gone? The Beatles often discussed reuniting, but never did, fearing that newer work couldn't match what they already had done. The closest the Beatles came to reuniting was when Lorne Michaels offered them $3000 to reunite on Saturday Night Live and John Lennon and McCartney nearly took them up on the offer. McCartney also played with Ringo on his 70th birthday and George Harrison and Ringo Starr played together a few times. On this anniversary of the Beatles, we'll take your request. Ok, we lied. If you hear a Beatles song on Jack FM and you requested it, it's just a coincidence. But in case you were wondering what the most requested songs are from the Beatles here you go.

Hey Jude

I don't know what it is about 'Hey, Jude' that makes this song so awesome. I love that it starts out as a ballad and then rocks out for about 4 minutes with Paul screaming "Judy, Jood..Jood!!!" But this song has to be the Beatles best ever and still sounds great today.

Revolution

One of the most memorable riffs in music, Revolution is not only an anthem for the time, it's fun! Like most John Lennon songs it was politically charged, and he may have recorded part of this song lying on the floor in a drug-induced haze, making even more awesome.

A Day in the Life

'A Day in the Life' has often been hailed one of the best songs in the history of music. I think it's a bit of a downer, but the album it came from 'Sgt. Peppers', is the start of my favorite era of Beatles music when they were obviously under the influence of some good stuff. They followed it up with 'Magical Mystery Tour',the 'White Album', 'Yellow Submarine' and 'Abbey Road'.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

The White Album, was recorded with some turmoil, with the band members starting to write their own songs and Ringo Starr nearly leaving the band. But it allowed the Fab Four to experiment as solo artists under the Beatles umbrella. George Harrison, the most under-rated Beatle, gave us a glimpse into his solo career with the perfectly melodic 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' that features Eric Clapton on Lead guitar.

Get Back

'Get Back' came from the Beatles last album, and may have been Paul's dig at Yoko Ono. The Beatles had broken up, yet with the "Let It Be' album, they were still producing monster hits, with Get Back being the Rocker of the bunch.
