Jessica Pegula Shouts Out Her Mom After Health Scare

Congratulations, Jessica Pegula!

Pegula won her first WTA 1000 title at the Guadalajara Open yesterday. She entered the tournament as the #3 seed. Pegula has certainly made a name for herself over the past few years in the tennis world and being from Buffalo, it is fun to watch and route for her.

Although, Pegula seems to be happy about people recognizing her for being in the tennis world rather than being the 'daughter of the Buffalo Bills owners'. After the match, she said that it's nice for people to see her for 'other things'.

Her mom, Buffalo Bills and Sabres owner Kim Pegula, has been recovering from a health scare since the summer. After the win, Jessica made sure she dedicated the win to her mother.

Jessica said Kim Pegula was watching her play from home.

My mom always kind of joked I was the first sports team as far as helping me with my tennis career growing up," Pegula told reporters. "I definitely wanted to dedicate it to her. She's had a really tough year. I know she was watching I'm sure she appreciated that", according to WTA.

Jessica Pegula will move up the rankings to #3 in the world.
