So wet in fact that July is already the wettest month of 2021 and we are only halfway thru the month.

As of 7/14, according to WGZR meteorologist Heather Waldman, July has received just over 3 inches of rain. That bests the 2nd wettest month April buy more than a quarter of an inch.

Here is the recorded rainfall/snowfall in inches for 2021 for each month at the Buffalo Airport.

January - 1.85"
February - 2.06"
March - 1.92"
April - 2.77"
May - 1.63"
June - 1.77"
July - 3.10"

And it looks like that total of 3.10" of rain will get given higher as more rain is expected this weekend across Western New York.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo is calling for rain and thunderstorms to move in later tonight around 10 pm and then rain is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday. Another possible quarter inch to half of inch of rain could come our way on Saturday.

Tonight there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms along with the chance of gusty winds that could cause some damage. There is also a marginal chance for flash flooding across the area today and tonight. You could see possible flooding along creeks, rivers, and low-lying roadways.

We will see some sunshine on Sunday and Monday but then more rain is expected next Tuesday and beyond.

It was pretty dry leading into the month of July so for many homeowners, the rain has been welcomed because a lot of lawns in Western New York were very dry.
