One of the biggest delays in Powerball history is a result of one jurisdiction failing to submit their sales and play data before the big draw on Monday night.
According to the California Lottery on Twitter, there was a technical error that has caused a delay in the Monday night lottery drawing. The delay is a result of a “participating lottery needing extra time to complete the required security protocols.”
It’s unclear what state caused the hold up, and we’ll never really know because it is against the lottery’s policy to reveal that information, according to the Associated Press.
In a statement by the Multi-State Lottery Association, we found out that one lottery jurisdiction was late when it came to processing its sales and play data, and the Powerball requires all 48 participating lotteries to submit their sales and play data prior to the winning numbers being selected…which is ultimately what caused the delay.
