The Tampa Bay Rays are looking for a new place to play baseball in 2025 and that could be right here in Western New York.

Due to damage suffered from Hurricane Milton, the Rays stadium will not be ready for the start of the 2025 Major League Baseball season.


 

So the team is looking at places to call home until the stadium can be fixed. Here are some reasons I think Buffalo would be perfect.

BUFFALO ALEADY HOSTED MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

The Toronto Bluejays called Buffalo home for several weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic and they made changes to Sahlen Field to make it Major League Baseball ready. Tampa Bay could move right in and play ASAP.

BUFFALO IS CLOSE TO ALL THE AMERICAN EAST TEAMS

The Rays play in the AL East against teams like the NY Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Bluejays. Calling Buffalo home would make for easier travel for the team.

THE RAYS MANAGER IS WELL KNOWN IN WESTERN NEW YORK

Kevin Cash is the skipper of the Rays and many baseball fans have followed Cash since he played Triple-A in Syracuse. He also played for Toronto, New York, and Boston as a player. Baseball fans in Buffalo have been following him for a long time.

The biggest reason this wouldn't work is that the Buffalo Bisons currently call Sahlen Park home and they would need to find a new place to play if Tampa Bay took over the ballpark. When Toronto played in Buffalo, the Bisons season was over.
