On a recent trip to Glasgow, Scotland, AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young discovered not only the beauty of his and brother Angus’ birthplace, but the ranking of his fame vs. his cousin, folksinger Sandie Maciver.

According to Classic Rock magazine, Maciver is actually a cousin of Malcolm’s wife Linda and is a well known musician, well… in the local circles that is. “We were having dinner in the motel with Malcolm and his family,” Sandi said,  “A friend of my aunt came in and joined us. He looked at Malcolm then whispered: ‘Is that the one in the band?’ Then he saw me and said loudly, ‘Oh, is that Sandie Maciver?’ I was recognized before him! It could only happen in Harris.”

Young and family, wife Linda and son Ross, traveled to the isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, on a mission to find out more about her past. They also met with Linda’s long-lost relatives in Stornoway. “I still feel very Scottish.” Young said, “I love coming back to Scotland. We’ve never been to the Western Isles before but it’s been really good, it’s lovely up here.”

Something tells us Malcolm will get over the ‘Maciver incident’ pretty easily! Let’s hope that vacation has fired up Young to get his band in gear to work on a new album.
