If you had a time machine and were to go back a few years in history, today would seem like it was a lifetime away. But after several years of planning and work, and a couple of billion dollars of private and public money, Buffalo, Western New York, the Buffalo Bills, and the NFL have finally reached a milestone that seemed like it would take forever to get here: the ribbon-cutting of the new Highmark Stadium.

While the stadium is not yet 100% complete, the stadium has received its official certificate of occupancy from Erie County, and the facility is substantially complete. This, of course, means all of the powers that be and important people from around the NFL and Empire State pulled up to 10 Bills Plaza to officially open the stadium and cut the ribbon.

As someone who grew up in Western New York, I could not be more excited for the official opening of Highmark Stadium. This public-private partnership is a win for one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL and a credit to the Buffalo Bills, New York State and Erie County. This incredible stage will boost the local economy and serve as the new backdrop for a lifetime of football memories. We look forward to kicking off the first game there this September.

The more than 242-acre stadium complex features the $2.1 billion stadium that boasts a whopping 1.6 million square feet and is now all set to host its first event this coming August: the famed Return of the Blue & Red scrimmage.

A who's who of business, government, and sports were hand to watch the ribbon get cut in front of the stadium.

Living in Western New York, we've had a front row seat to watching this stadium grow from a parking lot, to a whole in the ground, to what is now being described as the most advanced sports complex in the world.

Let's go, Buffalo!
