New York State Bringing Vaccine To Your Front Door?

Medical professionals from the Health Department are making it a little easier for you to get this particular vaccine by bringing it right to you.

Earlier this year New York State was on the verge of another serious medical crisis with the re-emergence of Monkeypox in the United States.

As the disease spread across the country, both New York and California quickly became epicenters for infections. In fact, things had gotten so bad in some areas of the Empire State earlier this year that Governor Hocuhul declared a State of Emergency to help combat the spread.

Over the last few months, infections have started to level off, and even drop in some areas. However, there is still a public health emergency in place and that's why officials from the Erie County Health Department are now offering the vaccine to eligible people in their own homes.

Our department held a series of monkeypox vaccine clinics this summer and fall, including on college campuses, to provide access to everyone who was eligible and willing to be vaccinated. This at-home service is an extension of that effort, designed to reach eligible people who may not be comfortable coming into a clinic setting.

To schedule an appointment for Health Department officials to come to your home and administer the vaccine, you need to contact the health department via phone at (716) 858-2929. Then you'll be able to set up the appointment at your home, another place, or at an Erie County medical location. Both doses of the vaccine are available to be given at home.
