According to WIVB, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced all dentists can reopen practices statewide, starting Monday, June 1st.

All dentist's offices will be subject to safety and social distancing guidelines.

This statement from Governor Cuomo's press conference on Sunday:

“The reduction in New York’s new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, invitations, and other metrics represent tremendous progress from where we were,” Cuomo said. “We have gone through hell and back, we are on the other side and it’s a lesson for all of us, and we need to stay vigilant as we reopen different parts of the state so that we don’t backslide.”

According to the New York State Dental Association, these are some of the safety guidelines that will be in place at the dentist office:

  • Patients will wait in their car until their appointment is ready.
  • Screening questions, along with a temperature check.
  • All patients must wear a mask unless getting dental procedure done.
  • Hand Sanitizing station at the entrance.
  • Chairs to be spaced six feet apart.
