We got word that a Paramount Pictures movie was conducting casting calls for extras here in Buffalo for a new, unnamed movie earlier this week, but we didn't know when the movie would be filmed in Western New York. That became at least a little more clear on Friday.

According to Hannah Buehler of WKBW, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown during his annual state of the city address announced that Paramount Pictures would be bringing their new movie to Buffalo later this month.

According to the extras casting call, the production company is looking for anyone with an Amish-type appearance, or willing to take on an Amish-type appearance.

  • Anyone with an Amish-type beard or someone who could be shaped into having an Amish-type appearance.
  • The casting call is looking for Amish-looking extras of both men and women, along with all age groups, including children, teens, and elders.
  • There's even a call for a "Youth German Singing Group," which you can see here.

The title of the film, along with shooting locations are presumably coming out in the next week or two, so we will be sure to keep you posted on exactly where Hollywood movie crews will be in Buffalo and Western New York.
