Remembering John Lennon

30 years ago today, the world lost one of the greatest musicians it had ever seen. From the Beatles to his solo work, John Lennon transformed music. He was one of the few musicians who also influenced politics and culture. 

Dec. 9, 1980: Former Beatle John Lennon, 40, who led a revolution in popular music that captured the imagination of an entire generation, was shot to death Monday outside his exclusive Manhattan apartment house.
