After a tough loss in Game 5 of the playoffs in Buffalo, the Sabres take a business trip back to Boston for Game 6. This was a pivotal game for both teams. If the Bruins win, they survive another day to force a deciding game 7 back at the KeyBank Center. If the Sabres win, they repeat what they did in 1993 during the famous May Day game.

It seems that the month of May started in a great way for the Buffalo Sabres. Just like 33 years ago, when the Sabres played the Boston Bruins in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, great play on the ice led to a great Sabres victory. And now, in Game 6 of the 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Sabres do the work needed to send Boston home to work on their golf game, while moving on to the second round of the playoffs.

The Bruins put in some work on the defensive end to not only score thier only goal of the game, but to also keep the Sabres from extending thier lead in the second period. However, once the third period started, the Sabres turned up the energy again.

Josh Doan put in some hard work while being double-teamed to slide a beautiful pass to a streaking Zach Benson, who was able to slap a shot right past Swayman for Buffalo's third goal of the game.

With the game getting out of hand for the Bruins, they decided to pull Swayman to give them an extra skater, but that wasn't enough for Buffalo, as Josh Norris really wanted to score. He was able to zip a nice shot from being the blue line to score an empty-netter goal, giving the Sabres a 4-1 lead.

Norris's goal ended up being the final point of the game as Buffalo put the game away and is now moving into the second round.

Now, Buffalo has to wait until Sunday, May 3, 2026, to find out who they will play in the second round, as Montreal and Tampa Bay will play a series-deciding Game 7 in Tampa.
