Just days after Buffalo Public School announced that they would be cancelling Fall high school sports, Section VI officials announced that low and moderate risk sports will be played with a start day of next Monday.

Section VI covers a majority of Western New York high schools from Hamburg to Starpoint.

In a letter posted on their website, officials with Section VI  said that a majority of school wanted sports to take place this Fall.

The Athletic Council of Section VI today accepted the results of the formal post-card ballot that went out to their membership, and will move forward with fall sports. Over 70 districts submitted votes through the ballot process with 67 pledging their support for a September 21 start date.

Sports that will be allowed to start on Monday include cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, soccer, girls swimming and girls tennis.
