The SPCA Serving Erie County is currently looking for people to join their "Wildlife Department Team." Fostering cottontail Easter bunnies and grey squirrels.

It may sound like a challenge but the SPCA makes it easy to train to become a wildlife foster parent and to care for the animals properly.

Not every home is a suitable one for foster bunnies or squirrels but the SPCA will hold a special training session at the SPCA's Humane Education Center on Thursday, January 23rd at 6 p.m.

Here's the bulk of the information you need to know:

Some of the key points to becoming a foster parent for bunnies or squirrels are non-stress environments with little sound (like radios or TV's) and having enough free time, like retired or work from home.

Cottontail bunnies usually are fostered for 1-2 weeks, while squirrels foster care time lasts anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

If you want to help foster a bunny or squirrel, you can contact the SPCA Serving Erie County. The training session will happen at 300 Harlem Road in West Seneca.
