Tage Thompson Wants This Rule Changed in the NHL

Buffalo Sabres Superstar and Team USA hero Tage Thompson had the best meal he's had over the last year in Sweden. That was when he played for Team USA in the World Championships, scoring the winning gold medal goal. It was Veal Parmesan, to the surprise of the interviewer, who got that answer from him.

Thompson joined Jonny Lazarus from Bleacher Report's Open Ice for a skate-around interview. In it, we learned that Thompson loves the Hangover movies, practiced Patrick Kane's cellly as a kid, and believes Zach Benson would be the perfect Sabre to go on "Love Island," next to former Sabre Jeff Skinner, who said, "I feel like he's lookin' for love." He also says Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs are the biggest dads on the team.

But his final answer is the subject of this article. What Rule change would Thompson make if he could? His Answer? Kicking the puck into the goal.

Why? In summary, because he feels like he's willing to pay the price to go in the crease, and he can kick a goal in, he should be able to have it. It's an interesting answer, I've never honestly heard before from an NHL player. After all, players get very animated when a puck gets kicked in because the rule currently states you can't do that. I can deflect off your body, and even your foot, but it cannot be a kicking motion.
