This night only comes once a year – thank goodness. Not that I don’t love New Year’s Eve. I do. I love gathering with friends, drinking some bubbly and making resolutions that I know I’ll never keep. But I can’t help that notice that New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest holiday letdowns of the year.

Thanks to the website RecordSetter, which allows folks to invent a world record in anything, many a wacky record was set and/or broken in 2011.

Sometimes a TV character will fire off a line of dialogue that is so good you find yourself quoting it the next day. As consumers, we’re all used to being nickel-and-dimed to death with fees — from charges for checking a bag when we fly to charges to pay a bill online, we see them every day. They may be small, but they add up. And some were even more egregious than others in 2011.
