A trio of summer outdoor concerts coupled with the annual return of live horse racing and other special events combined to set a new benchmark for betting and payouts for Batavia Downs.
Spotty weather didn’t damper what was the biggest show of the year for Batavia Downs. 38 Special made their back around after a sold-out show in 2022. That feat was nearly matched again but fell short probably due to the uncertainty of the weather.
Following the band’s summer tour, which includes an Aug. 9 show at Batavia Downs, they will be headed back into the studio to put together a double CD “legacy” package including greatest hits and new songs. The disc is due out next spring.
Across the board, revenues generated by Batavia Downs patrons spiked upwardly during the first half of this year - and the effects are being felt regionally.
Smash Mouth will be kicking off the annual Batavia Downs summer concert series, with a show set for June 21 at the venerable Genesee County sports and entertainment destination.
