New Tax Deductions For Teachers In New York State

The 2022-2023 school year is just about to begin across New York State and parents everywhere are getting ready! Not only is it an exciting time for the students, the parents are also looking forward to the regular routine to begin.

Among the anticipation, and excitement of back-to-school shopping, teachers and staff are also preparing for things to get back to normal. But before we head back, the school supply list has to be filled and items checked off. For some teachers, that means spending money from their own pockets and wallets. There is good news for teachers here in New York and across the United States.

According to reports, teachers will now be able to use some of the money they spend on supplies as a tax dedcution.

We have two kids going back to school this year and the list of supplies they need is pretty extensive. As we do some of the shopping for our sons, I think back to when I was a kid heading back to school. There is something exciting about new folders and pens and pencils! But, like everything else these days, the cost of these items has gotten unreal and for some families they simply ca not afford to buy them. Teachers across the Empire State are stepping up to fill the gaps and make sure each student has what they need to succeed.
