Forbes recently put out an updated list of the richest people in the world and the owner of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres made it to the Billionaires list in 2026.

How Rich Is Terry Pegula?

According to the latest release from Forbes, Terry Pegula is worth $9.3 billion dollars as of April 4th, 2026. He is currently the 355th richest person in the world.

Pegula made his mark in the world of oil and gas before selling most of his company and assets in 2010 to Royal Dutch Shell. That deal gave him $4.7 billion dollars which he used to purchase the Buffalo Sabres and then the Buffalo Bills.

Pegula has owned the Sabres since 2011 and the Buffalo Bills since 2014.

Who Is The Richest Person In The World?

Forbes keeps a running total of the richest people in the world, and currently (at the time of this writing), Elon Musk is the richest person in the world with a net worth of $827.2 Billion dollars.

The rest of the top five after Elon Musk look like this:

Larry Page - $240.4 billion
Jeff Bezos - $225.3 billion
Sergey Brin - $221..9 billion
Mark Zuckerberg - $204.2 billion

So while Terry Pegula has a lot of money, he is well behind the top billionaires in the world. Pegula is not even the richest NFL team owner. That honor goes to Rob Walton, who owns the Denver Broncos. He is worth an estimate $148 billion dollars.

So next time you pay for a $36 beer at Highmark Stadium or KeyBank Center, know that you are helping Terry climb that rung to the top of the billionaire's list.
