I'll be honest, I still have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to Western New York history. I'm not old enough to have been alive in the 80s, 70s, or 60s.

So when I stumbled upon this photo on Twitter today, I was shocked, because I had no idea this existed until now.

Nate Geary on Twitter shared this cool photo of what used to be at the Walmart location in Hamburg. You know, the giant Walmart off Southwestern Blvd. and Rogers Rd. There's also a shoe store and Key Bank in there as well.

However, back in the 1960s, it was a plaza that featured a host of throwback stores, such as a Hens & Kelly and even a Carvel Ice Cream shop! Check out the photo below.

Go and read the thread if you have a chance, as people are sharing their own stories of what they remember about that plaza.

There was also a bar/night club called Callahans. You had a drug store named Kap's and Loblaws. The old cars are also a sight to see. It looked like a different world and this was only 50 years ago or so.

My parents live down the road, so I know the area well, or at least the area it is now. I thought this was one giant field or empty lot before Walmart. It's awesome knowing there was a lively plaza back in the day here.
