What WNY Skiers Need To Know Before Holiday Valley Opening Day
It's time to hit the slopes for skiers across Western New York.
Holiday Valley will officially start its season this Thursday, December 10.
WIVB reports things are busy behind the scenes at the popular ski resort as snow is being made across the hills in Ellicottville.
"As of Monday morning, 144 acre-feet of snow has been made. An acre foot is is one acre is covered with a foot of snow." -WIVB
Holiday Valley is readying for visitors of all abilities on Thursday, with plans to "open at least four slopes for beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders," according to WIVB.
Holiday Valley will have daytime lessons available, along with hot beverages and a limited menu in two lodges.
Covid-19 protocols are posted on their website and include the usual requirements: all guests must wear masks or face coverings at all times, unless eating or drinking..."or while skiing/snowboarding down the slope."
Guests are also asked to stay six feet away from others whenever possible and to wash hands frequently.
WIVB reports the resort will be open for day skiing on Thursday, and then day & night skiing beginning Friday.
