Outside of a few days where the temperatures were in the 50s and even 60s, this winter has been one of the worst on record. The constant snow and cold have been evident throughout the past 10 weeks.

The good news is the official start of spring is just over a week away and we spring forward the clocks this weekend.

However, even though we spring forward this Saturday into Sunday, the weather for most of New York State will feel anything but spring-like this weekend.

In case you haven't heard, there's a winter storm heading for New York State and its timing could not be worse for those hoping to enjoy their weekend with outdoor activities.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for over 30 New York counties. They're all in the Central, north country and Upstate region.

According to the National Weather Service's winter storm update, 7-12 inches of snow is possible with this system, which will arrive on Friday evening and last through Saturday night.

The 7+ inches of snow is a problem, but so is the forecasted 45 mph wind gusts that will accompany this snow event. That would make travel extremely difficult, if not impossible at times.

Blowing and drifting snow will cause plowed roads to be recovered by snow. Make appropriate plans if you are traveling on Saturday.

As for Western New York, 2-5 inches of snow is expected in the Buffalo region.

Safe to say that we are all ready for spring and hopefully, this is winter's last hoorah. Looking forward to the warmer weather.
