5 Fun Things to do Over Memorial Weekend in Western New York

Buffalo Bisons Game – The Bisons have games on Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 PM.  Memorial Day is a day to remember those who have fought to preserve the American way of life, and nothing is more American than baseball.  Bring the whole family down to the ballpark for a day of great fun.  Plus, Memorial Day Picnic at 2 PM on Monday.

Arcade and Attica Railroad –  It’s the home of the last operating steam train in New York State.  There are scenic, historic train excursions to enjoy, and it’s open this weekend through December.

Buffalo Harbor Kayak – Kayaks are single or tandem, and stand-up paddleboards are available too.  If water sports are your thing, imagine how fun would this be.  You can even take a tour of the Buffalo River.

The Buffalo Naval Park – One of the most amazing treasures we have in Western New York. Board and tour ships like the the USS Little Rock, USS Croaker Submarine, and USS The Sullivans on your own or with a knowledgeable guide.  Children will love sitting at the helm of an actual U.S. Navy Battleship or trying out the periscope of an authentic submarine.  Have lunch aboard with your family and friends, and then stroll through the rest of the park, where you’ll find vintage jets, personnel carries, mini subs, helicopters, and more.

Mickey Rats/Captain Kidds - Parking yourself on the sand and making your way to one of the bars at Mickey Rats Beach Club isn’t the only move you’ll want to make once you get there (although serving up cold, tasty beverages is one of their specialties). No...this is the type of place that you’ll want to experience from top to bottom. Bring your bathing suit, get some sun, and have some fun! Mickey Rats has beach-top volleyball courts, DJ’s, live music, dancing, and state-of-the-art lighting and sound.
