Great news for animals lovers! Soon you could be able to grab some treats, the leash, your four-legged best friend and head to Lancaster's new dog park...

According to WGRZ, the grassroots organization started about three years ago, known as Lancaster Unleashedis working diligently to bring a dog park to Como Lake Park. Members told WGRZ that Erie County has agreed to give the organization the land needed to make this goal a reality! The president of Lancaster Unleashed, Jaclyn McKewan, stated;

"There are a lot of other dog parks in Erie County, but none really in the area of Lancaster and Cheektowaga. You'd have to drive 20, 30 minutes to get to one from where we live"

The dog park is still in the preliminary stages of planning, and without tax payer money being received, the members of the group are working to come up with their own funding. Karen Penziul, a member of Lancaster Unleashed, had this to say:

"We have to get the fencing. We have to have liability insurance. Any amenities will be paid through us"

The organization is estimating the park to cost somewhere in the ball park of $50,000 and are hoping people will see the same need they do to create a safe location for dogs to roam free and enjoy time with their owners and other dogs.
