What's the difference between a brewery and a distillery?  They both make alcohol, but the short answer is that a brewery makes beer, a distillery makes liquor. While the process is kind of similar, the end product is very different.  So if you're a fan of drinks with vodka, gin, rum, whiskey, or bourbon, you're going to want to head over to a distillery.  Click here for a more in-depth look at the differences.

Where are the distilleries in Western New York?  It's not much of a surprise that many of the distilleries you'll find are closer to downtown Buffalo.  There are a couple on the outskirts and a few that are much more rural, but most of them tend to be grouped around the city.

The oldest of these is Buffalo Distilling Co.  They've been around since the 1800s and are still going strong today.  We have some that are brand new, and some that are completely women-owned.  We love our drinks here in Western New York.  If you're looking for the good stuff, this is where you'll find it.
