The best part of the the year is here in New York State. From now until New Year's eve, there are some great things that are going to happen and some of the best weather of the year as well.

This weekend will be the start of the archery hunting season in parts of New York State. As the leaves start to change and the weather gets crisp, those of us who love to bow hunt can't wait for October 1st! But after you get your license, get the camouflage clothes ready and do your scouting, there are some things to remember.

4 Basic Archery Hunting Rules In New York State

I have been looking forward to this season for a few months. I have been hunting since I was 14 years old and LOVE hunting with my bow. I find that I see more deer when I archery hunt than when I hunt during the regular season. There is nothing better than a cool and quiet fall day in the woods and going undetected around deer.

If you don't have your license yet, there is still time to get one. Make sure you have completed your online or in-person archery certification classes and get to a retailer to get the license in person before the opener. If you order a license online, it may take a few days/weeks to get it delivered and you don't want to miss any chance to get in to the woods. I have been seeing so many deer and some really good bucks around Western New York!
