April 15, also known as Tax Day is quickly approaching. If you still haven't filed your taxes, you may want to take advantage of the free preparation services offered by Buffalo Public Schools. Gellenia Smallwood, Director of Parent and Family Engagement with BPS said,

We are excited to announce our VITA services taking place at Buffalo Public Community Schools, beginning this Saturday!! With historic credits accessible for our families, we wanted to expand FREE non-predatory Tax Services right in our School Communities.

In order to qualify for the free tax preparation services offered by BPS through VITA, your income must be at or less than $57,000 for a household of four. You will also need to call 211 or click below to schedule an appointment. They are not accepting walk-ins this year.

Items You Need To Bring:

- Bring copies of your Photo ID cards of Taxpayer & Spouse if filing Joint Return.
- Bring copies of the Social Security cards of all people on the Tax return.
- Copies of your W-2s for each job held in 2021 for each person in the household, this form reports your name, wages, and other tax information to the IRS.
- 1099’s showing either:
Unemployment Income
Social Security Income
State tax refund
- IRS Letter 6419 – Proof of Advance Child Tax Credit Payments
- IRS Letter 14444-C – 2021 Economic Impact Payment – Federal Stimulus Payments
- 1095-A if you received credit from the healthcare.gov marketplace.
- Income/interest statements received savings accounts or investments.
- For direct deposits – a valid bank account and bank routing number must be provided
