Buffalo Sabres Ink Rising Star To Long-Term Deal
It has been a very busy week for the Buffalo Sabres. The team has made some major trades and extended one of the team's rising stars to a long-term deal.
Buffalo Sabres Resign Forward Zach Benson
The Sabres announced they have re-signed restricted free agent and fan favorite Zach Benson to a long-term deal. Benson was one of the spark plug players for the Sabres during the playoffs this past season.
The 21-year-old winger signed a seven-year contract with an average annual value of $7.5 million. Benson is now under contract through the 2032-33 season.
Buffalo Sabres Trade Away Alex Tuch
The Buffalo Sabres couldn't reach a deal with forward Alex Tuch, so they decided to do a sign-and-trade deal with Washington. Tuch was sent to the Capitals, where he signed an eight-year contract worth $84 million. In exchange, the Sabres got a 3rd round pick in next year's draft and forward David Kampf.
Are the Buffalo Sabres done wheeling and dealing ahead of this weekend's NHL draft? We will have to wait and see and new Sabres GM Jarmo Kekäläinen said he is willing to listen to deals for the #4 overall pick in this year's draft.
