As the Buffalo Sabres continue to struggle on the ice, fans struggle to find a reason to attend games.

Buffalo was once a very proud hockey town. It was the envy of most American markets, with high attendance at home games and excellent TV ratings. Season tickets were hard to get as they were often sold out.

Then, the playoff drought began.

It's been 13 years since the Sabres were in the NHL playoffs. Sorry for the reminder, Sabres fans. It's not looking good this year, either. Already the team suffered a 13-game losing streak, sit last in the NHL Eastern Conference standings, and last night blew a 3-0 lead, then a 2-goal lead twice, to lose to Colorado in overtime. Their inability to hold leads has been an issue all year, and their mental toughness has been questioned by many. General Manager Kevyn Adams has struggled to provide a better roster and make any in-season trades to try and help the team. His comments earlier in the season, when he said the Sabres are not a destination for players today who want palm trees, left a bad taste in fans' mouths.

Even though it's been a struggle over the past 13 years, attendance hasn't been terrible at Key Bank Center. The team has been roughly in the middle of the pack for home game attendance during the drought.

However, the last few seasons have taken their toll, and this season is beginning to really hurt their numbers. Attendance has dropped dramatically. They were 28th last year and 31st the year before. This year isn't looking better, either.

According to @PuckReportNHL on X, the Buffalo Sabres are second to last in the NHL this season in home game attendance.

This will come as no surprise to Sabres fans, who have grown beyond frustrated. It will be interesting to see what happens as the year goes on. Owner Terry Pegula does not seem keen on moving on from Adams, though perhaps letting the GM go in the middle of the season is more complicated than some may think. It's hard to know what the trade market is really like, too. It's easy to demand a trade or fire a front office person, but not easy to do, especially when you're a team like the Sabres, who have developed a negative reputation.

While the Sabres continue to fail, many fans want owner Terry Pegula to sell the team. One potential buyer could be actor Ryan Renolds. Here are 3 reasons why he should buy the Sabres.

3 Reasons Ryan Reynolds Should Buy The Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres do not appear to be officially for sale. However, recent changes to their business structure have many speculating about the team's future. If they were to be sold, the perfect owner may be actor and Wrexham AFC owner Ryan Reynolds.
