Would the Buffalo Sabres Trade This Surpise Player?
The NHL Trade deadline is on March 7, and the Buffalo Sabres are the subject of many rumors around the league. After all, this team is likely to miss the playoffs for the 14th straight season. Things are not right again, and the team probably needs a shake-up. However, this player was not one most fans would think was available for trade.
General Manager Kevyn Adams sparked outrage earlier this season when the team was struggling, and he proclaimed players didn't want to come to Buffalo because it's not a "destination city." He said players would rather play in places with palm trees. Watch what he said:
Fans are tired of excuses and this team's underachieving. There is no doubt, though, that bringing big-name players to Buffalo via trade will be hard. The team doesn't win, and no one wants to play for a loser, palm trees or not.
Rumored Sabress That Could Be Traded
Alex Tuch, Bo Byram, Dylan Cozens, Jordan Greenway, and Owen Power are all rumored to be of interest to other teams. Tuch is a scorer and brings a lot of good character to a team, though the Sabres likely won't trade him. Cozens has struggled since scoring 31 goals a few seasons ago. Greenway's contract is up this year, as is Byrum's, making them trade candidates, though the team has shown interest in resigning them. Power is getting a lot of heat from fans who think he should be playing better hockey as a former number 1 overall pick. Truth is, he is still young and developing. Ramsus Dhalin has the same pedigree and had similar struggles but is now an all-world player.
Jason Zucker is also in the final year of his deal, but he is rumored to want to sign a long-term deal with the Sabres.
For a team no one wants to play for, it sure seems like most of them want to stay.
While most of the players make sense as trade targets, one player popped up today as a potential trade target that was unexpected.
Would the Buffalo Sabres Trade This Surpise Player?
Up-and-coming star JJ Peterka is rumored to be of trad interest to teams.
This doesn't make a lot of sense. While I'm sure teams want Peterka, a young goal scorer who has 17 goals and 44 points in 55 games this season, I doubt the Sabres have an interest in moving him. This is just his second season in the NHL, and he continues to get better. He's not exactly the type of player any team moves on from.
Unless the Sabres are getting a massive star in return, I don't see this happening. Still, it's odd for his name to pop up. Often, where there is smoke, there is some kind of fire. We'll see what happens.
The NHL Trade deadline is March 7 at 3 pm E.T.
