For Buffalo-area foodies, we’ve got both good and bad news to share.

There’s always buzz around the city when Buffalo finally gets a chain that it’s been wanting for years. Unfortunately, though, that sometimes comes with the price of sacrificing one of our locally owned hot spots for the new restaurant.

Chipotle Getting First City Of Buffalo Location

The popular chain Chipotle Mexican Grill already has several locations in the Western New York area, including Amherst, Tonawanda, Williamsville, Hamburg, and Niagara Falls. However, their future location at 2236 Delaware Ave. will be the first Chipotle to open in the city of Buffalo proper.

When Chipotle opens in early 2023, we’re sure city residents will be clamoring to get their hands on one of their famous burritos or bowls.

Tokyo II Seafood and Steakhouse Being Replaced By Chipotle

The bad news? Chipotle will be replacing a beloved restaurant that has been serving area customers for the past eleven years.

Tokyo II Seafood and Steakhouse will close at the end of the month to make room for the incoming Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Buffalo Business First reports that the owners may reopen the popular sushi spot somewhere else, but no location has been identified as of yet.

This is a massive disappointment for fans of the Delaware Ave. restaurant, so hopefully, their owners will be able to relocate to a new spot to feed their hungry city of Buffalo residents.

In the meantime, if you’re a fan of Tokyo II Seafood and Steakhouse, you’d better make your dinner plans there in the next few days - the restaurant will be closing its doors on September 30th.
