Counterfeit Bills Gear Lands A Few Folks In Jail
For the last few years, the Buffalo Bills have been one of the hottest teams on the football field. Those of us who live in Western New York have been in love with our team, but with the resurgence of top-notch play from the Bills, the rest of the nation was seeing what we already know: Buffalo is the best. That success on the field has also translated to something that some folks may not have expected: Bills-related gear has quickly become one of the hottest things in the store.
Trying to find some affordable Buffalo Bills Merchandise has been a hard thing to come by over the last couple of years. As the team's success on the field has improved, the cost of getting your hands on some red, white, and blue Bills gear has gotten harder to acquire. The increase in demand has led to both increased prices and often shortages in some items like jerseys, pants, and shirts.
Now with that in mind, one thing that we know is that scammers are going to scam, and with anything super popular, bootleggers and counterfeiters are looking to cash in on the popularity of the hometown team too.

Knowing this, the NFL and the Buffalo Bills teamed up with the Orchard Park Police Department to take down some shady folks who are accused of selling bootleg and counterfeit Bills gear.
While the Bills were handling business inside Highmark Stadium on Thursday, September 17th, the police were taking some folks to jail during Operation Bootleg Blitz. According to a press release from the OPPD, 4 people were arrested, and more than 200 items were seized from the folks.
169 counterfeit items like jerseys, hats, and bags were seized along with an additional 76 items listed as unpermitted. Of the four people arrested, three were from Buffalo, and the fourth was from Cleveland, Ohio; each was charged with peddling without a permit and either a felony or misdemeanor counterfeiting charge. Each of the four is due in Orchard Park Town Court on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
There's a saying that crime doesn't pay, and it seems to be true in this instance.
