If it seems like everybody you know has a smartphone these days, well, you’re wrong.

New research has revealed the US is not even close to the world leaders when it comes to percentage of people who own a smartphone.

Only 56% of people in this country own a smartphone, good for 13th most in the world. It’s far cry from the country where smartphones are most prevalent – United Arab Emirates, where 74% of folks have one. That edged second-place South Korea, which has a 73% penetration rate.
