Flowers Will Need To Be Covered This Week In Buffalo
We just broke snowfall records in Western New York...in April. And although we're supposed to get warmer temps this week, we're not out of the woods yet.
When you woke up this morning and looked outside, chances are, you said to yourself, "When is this ever going to end?"
A lot of us have already begun to plant flowers and get veggies in the ground. To see some of them pathetically trying to poke their way through the snow was (at the least) a little disheartening.
Believe it or not, the end is in sight but if you've got plants outside already, you're going to still want to take some steps this week to give them their best chance of survival. We are going to get some temperatures that are a little closer to normal and lots of sunshine for the next couple of days. We should be able to get up into the 50s for a couple days in a row but at night the temps are still going to dip below freezing and could cause damage to flowers and what they call "tender vegetation."
So while you've followed the chart correctly and put the veggies in the ground that should be there by now, this week be sure to cover them to make sure that frost doesn't take a toll on them.
It's still early for next week, but at this point, it looks as though we could see temperatures in the low 60s for the beginning of next week and temps in the upper 40s and lower 50s overnight.
